Fahrenheit Robotics

Fahrenheit Robotics

A FIRST Robotics Competition Team

We are Fahrenheit Robotics, a local high school team competing in the FIRST Robotics Competition. As well as building a robot to compete in this competition, we would like to be more involved in our community by attending STEM ( Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math ) oriented events and showing off our creations to the public. We hope that this will allow people in our community who are interested in STEM the opportunity to pursue their interests by joining our team.

For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) is an international youth organization that operates the FIRST Robotics Competition. This high school robotics competition is designed to get students more involved in STEM through stadium-style competitions that challenge teams to design, build, program, test, and complete a large, functional robot.  In addition, teams have to build a brand, manage a team budget, and raise the funding necessary to participate, giving them full entrepreneurial and hands-on technical experience(s). FIRST wants to equip students with the ability to be leaders and innovators with programs that teach STEM skills and develop abilities that can be used throughout students’ futures.

The Fahrenheit team is made up of high school students from area high schools and home schools. Fahrenheit Robotics meets during build and competition seasons on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the FredWorks maker space at Fredericksburg Academy.
